I have sprayed the textured paint and all went well :-)  The layer of satin varnish is curing at the moment. That was the last step of the paint job, all successfully done.

Yes, having finished the paint job was a huge relief, Kiyo. If something goes wrong with that you can spoil all the effort put in before. I now will place all the remaining fittings on the deck and fix the fender, using the insert piece which Kim has sent me :-))

Today I was able to continue the build. I like that now everything prepared comes into fruition. I have fixed the fender using 3M double sided self adhesive tape although Kim told me he had some issues with such tape in the past (not knowing the make though). If it does not stick I will be able to use superglue instead. You will notice the insert piece of about 4 cm length as the fender provided with the semi-kit was not long enough. I am very thankful that Kim has sent me a spare part which he kept from the pre production time. The shape of the profile was not identical but I was able to correct that by sanding it down. Not an ideal solution but much better than my first attempt replicating it by Milliput.

The lining is from Oracover. I have used that for the first time and it works a treat. It is very thin material which comes on a layer and can be bent in curves as you can see on the photos.

Hi Arno,
You did a very nice job with Oracover this time and looks very well. :-))

I have ever used this German-made awesome covering film for my 5.8 feet long RC plane, German WW2 Focke-Wulf D-9 famous for its high-performance in any points required for a fighter plane.
This covering film was a bit expensive but too tough but flexible enough for RC plane covering use and my D-9 "Dora"is still alive vividly with wrinkle free conditions as seen in the pics below.
I covered my D-9 fully with the Oracover film before painting over three decades ago when I was too young.
I have gotten so old during the decades ,but D-9 is still young able to fly anytime required by my operaion.!!!! wahha-haa-- {-) :D :-))

Wow Kiyo, great photos of great models! I have not tried rc modelling with aeroplanes so far, I suppose I am restricted to two dimensions {-)

Arno, you have done it again.....some absolutely wonderful model building.......the 'apprentice' has indeed become THE 'Master' :-)) .
Thanks for keeping this going so well....you have a keen and supportive group following this.
I am attaching two photos from my archive showing the rubber side fender on the starboard side. If you look at the last section before the stern corner, you will see that is indeed a different colour!! I asked the Engineer [Trevor Bunney] at the time [he's now retired] was it replaced due to an accident. He said 'no, that's how it arrived on station!!' So you have indeed replicated 13-02 exactly [just in a slightly different place!]. I hope the photos show it when attached to this information.
A short message to the two 'Phils', back from last September time, I will write PMs in the next couple of weeks, but what with 5 operations in the last 3 years and in the last 2 weeks kidney stones too [nausia and much pain], much intended work just does not get done, sorry. I'll also put a few photos of my 10th bust figures too.
Regards to all who still follow on this wonderful Forum and big 'Congrats' to Arno for 'picking up the baton' and nearly finishing the race in 1st Place O0 !!

Me back again...........
What I should have said, regarding the rubber fenders on the actual lifeboats [although I'm sure you worked that out] is exactly what Arno has done, they cut out/off the damaged and offending section and replace it with a new piece.....'simples' as a certain TV ad says in the UK!!

Thanks for your praise, Kim - it means a lot to me! Meanwhile I have applied some Armor All (used for rubber and dashboard on cars) to the complete fender. It gave the replaced piece a deeper tone of black and you can hardly recognize the difference to the rest of the material. :-))
