Pete
Might I ask why you want to convert a radio which you can use for a submarine into one which you can't? Digifleet radio was one of the best and most sought-after sets of its time, but manufacture ceased well before the advent of 2G4 sets so I doubt you would be able to find a conversion module which would just drop in. You'd also be left with a redundant receiver, and servos which would need modification before they could be used with a contemporary 2G4 receiver.
My advice would be either to keep it for one of your subs, or sell it (I think it would be snapped up quickly) and buy a new 2G4 set with the proceeds.
Suit yourself, m'duck.

You don't have to lose the original tuner, you can have both in the same box- plenty of room.

Fleet used the standard NE5044D 7 channel encoder in those sets, so they're very common and easy to mod-  the datasheets are online. The PPM pulse to feed into another tuner is pin 11.

The Achilles heel of the Fleet design was the nicad pack located behind the main board. The batteries would leak over time, and corrode the board, and sometimes shorts would occur. Apart from that they're good sets.

Thanks  Andy  and Dave for your advice, I  use my f14 for the submarines with a futaba set and hitec laser  6 , i have removed the battery and i like the retro look and it feels substantial it reminds of my dgimac set. l  hoped to use it with the pre dreadnought  ships , will download the circuit  diagram and  have a look regards  pete

I don't how inclined you are towards electrickery, and it it involves a bit more work, but there is a very nice retrofit using an Ardunio nano board that enables you to upgrade the encoder on old R/C units. It also adds a few extra features, which are it has to be said more useful for aeroplane flyers, but nevertheless it's a nice tidy conversion, and you get a lot of fresh air inside the transmitter case.
