Precident Perkasa Video
« on: March 13, 2016, 09:51:19 am »

I built my Perkasa a couple of years ago. I wasn't impressed with the accuracy of the cut out shapes in the kit at the time. They were cut by knife blade tools that had lost their shape to some extent. The kit might well be improved now. If it was laser cut it would be a huge improvement. However I don't know if any changes have been made.
I think the model is perfect for me in terms of size (49 inches) and performance. Its big enough to cope with a bit of chop on the water and is fast enough to make it sporty.
It has an Emax 4020 motor and I run it on 4 and 5 cell lipos.
Below is a link to a video of it running at The Keepers Pond in Blaenavon

Nice scale speed there Les, and a nice little rooster tail, looks just about right, each to their own but all too often you see Perkasa's running at silly speeds. ;)

And steered as if the rudder stick was a switch. This looks exactly right in all respects and is a credit to your building and helmsmanship, Les. What's your next project?

Hey you don't wanna mess with our sheep. They will mug you for your sarnies when you get out of your car. :-)
I like the Keepers Pond at Blaenavon a lot. It can be windy there as it is on top of the mountain but as I said the Perkasa is big enough to cope. The lake is right alongside the road known as "The Tumble" in the round Britain cycle race.
My friend was driving for me to do the videoing as you need 3 hands to drive and video.
I have started a Severn lifeboat and most of my posts are in the lifeboat forum. At the moment it feels like a daunting build with lots of tricky bits.
Thanks for the kind comments

Hope all goes well with your build Les, daunting and tricky are what make it all worth while

Nice boat Lez, you say the motor is a 4020 but what is the Kv and what speed control are you using?

More precisely the motor is an Emax GT4020/07 which is 620kv.
The speed controller is an Aqua star 160 amp water cooled. (I think substantial overkill but it works fine)
Driving a plastic 55mm prop
