Our favorite modeling subjects ?

Our favorite modeling subjects ?

So, what type of ships do we most like to make models of?  We can each get a fairly good idea based on what we see on the water at our local club.  There are certain subjects much more prevalent than others.

So, I started to go through photographs on Mayhem from a recent and very well supported event.  I recorded a tick for each type in the first picture, then again for the second etc.  No doubt many may be repeated instances of the same vessel appearing more than once.  However, after going through a page and a half of the photos there are some obvious trends that stick out a mile.

•   1   Duck, 1 Viking longboat
•   2   Dingy
•   3   Submarine, 3 Hovercraft
•   4   Paddle steamer, 4 Canal Boat
•   7   Passenger Ferry
•   11   Aircraft Carrier
•   12   Sailing Ship
•   14   Lifeboat
•   17   Other large Warships
•   26   Fishing Boat
•   34   Motor Launch, MTB etc
•   61   Freighter, Cargo Ship
•   217   Tugs and tug towed vessels

Does approximately 50% being tugs sound par for the course?

We played this game at a national model show a couple of years ago,,, your results look about spot on. We did have sub-categories. One of which included Fast Launches with muscle bound wrestlers and Barbie dolls in them..after finding two of them in ten minutes we had to abandon the game as we were laughing too much {-)

Busted !   Waiting for an air pump plus some fittings (both well overdue) so instead of just thumb twiddling I thought I'd consume some time waiting for the Post

Nice selection.  On our club's lake a similar proportion of Yachts on Thursdays and Sundays. Having at least one Rescue Springer on standby is always welcome.

For reference I have 5 warships, 1881 to 1906, plus a springer.
