Hoegh-Osaka Solent grounding 2015. MAIB Report.
« on: March 17, 2016, 02:59:00 pm »

What is usually called in the media, a 'damning report'. I doubt any arguments on that!

The video has a 'no sound' break which ends at about 3.00 minutes in.

Colin, the full Report is given in my original post.

'Just what else is out there?'

Answer - Plenty more if you go to the MAIB index you may read many instances of 'accidents' (I would prefer incidents) involving all classes of vessels. It will astound you.

Here is another example of what some people get up to -

Sorry Bob,

I didn't look closely at your link, I was actually reading the report at the time.

I do regularly browse the MAIB site which is very interesting but my comment was really prompted by the inference that even in the supposedly well regulated area of Western Europe it is easily possible for very large vessels owned and operated by purportedly reputable companies to put to sea in a dangerous condition as a matter of course. One wonders at the competence levels of their crews given the comments made in the report which sort of suggests they were a bunch of cowboys although most of them in fact appear to have been Indians!
