Hello from the Highlands!
« on: March 17, 2016, 07:29:02 pm »

Hi everyone,

I'm completely new to the RC Boat scene but have experience with R/C Cars and Crawlers etc.

I stay in the Highlands and I have just picked up an old Kyosho Jetsream 800 EP that I plan to restore and run a modern brushless setup and 2.4ghz radio gear with the help of you guys I hope  :-)) O0

I will make a thread for the boat with pictures

Cheers

Hi Derka and welcome to Mayhem. I look forward to seeing some photos, and hearing of your progress with your model. If you have any questions just post on the forum, there's bound to be someone who can help you.

Peter.

Hi,

Thank you. Do you have a forum or Facebook group I could join and keep up with things?

A bit closer if you want to find a few lochs in the Aviemore area, a couple with full restaurant/bar facilities and many with only peace and quiet. Only modelling is aero but we have a waterplane event in September on Loch Insh, Kincraig.  Could be a venue for r/c boats, yachts, Springers %) :embarrassed:

Welcome

There has been a few attempts to set up a group in Inverness but generating enough local interest has proved difficult. There are a few modellers using the local lochs and ponds but it's mostly individuals.

Best support locally is the "The Sports & Model Shop - High Street Dingwall". Inverness model shop suffered a slow demise, finally closing a few month back.

Hi,

Yes I noticed Inverness Model Shop has closed its doors.

I know Andy quite well at the Sports and Model Shop. Really helpful chap and he has a boat I have my eye on!

I have recently started a Facebook Group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/756222074494891/

There are a few of us who meet up weekly with R/C Rock Crawlers, a few fly, a few into boats and few into racing locally at Sutherland RC.
