This is new on the market. Steve's stuff is A1 in my experience. He will be at the Coalville Show next weekend, which isn't too far from Mansfield.

I have looked at that one also my only problem is the height the other one is 72mm high which will sit exactly where it has to below the funnel but 110mm is going to be very tight

At my boat club lots of the club members only use the orange one from Model Boat Smoke. All work ever time, with great smoke effect.
You can buy them on his web site www.modelboatsmoke.com or his Ebay site. Then again at one of the shows he exhibits at.
Cheers

I have one ready for my Tug rebuild. It works very well on the bench and the big advantage is that it is all 12V. If you have a steam type boat it is probably nothing rapid, may be quite big. I use 12V SLA Battery and run everything through Action P92 or P107 Power Distribution Board.

Is this the type of fogger/ mister unit John?

The trouble is that one needs to be submerged in water, kind of defeats the object of a boat, I suppose it could mark the place where the boat sank. %% %% {-) {-) {-)

I ordered one anyway Joe, thinking that it will either fit in a box and be covered with water, or I'll cut it open, fit disc in the bottom of a box and the control circuit outside.
At that price I can experiment and try to get a working unit, even if it doesn't work out, i haven't wasted much cash.. :-))

It looks the same as the one I received in the smoker I got needs 24v the same, mine ragged in after about 15 mins,  I'm in the process of sorting it out with seller, he is sending me a new one, it did look ok when it was working, it might be worth me ordering a couple as spares, as well as a couple of 12v to 24v units just in case,  the set up looks pretty straight forward the water tank would be reusable

I bought one and it worked fine in a bowl but then I hid it inside a small margarine tub.
It melted a hole pretty much instantly in the plastic lid right above the centre of the fogger unit so be careful what type of plastic you make the box from or maybe it was due to the plastic being too close to the unit?

Hi Gopher,

I built my own custom cold smoke unit from parts off eBay to go in my Clyde Puffer, build thread below:

Good luck with yours,
