Representing Glass
« on: April 02, 2016, 10:06:46 pm »

I'm slowly getting round to finishing the resin Lynx for my HMS Exeter. Has anyone ideas/tips on representing the cockpit glass? Matt dark blue maybe? All contributions gratefully received.

There is a product by Humbrol called clearfix. You spread it around a framework with a toothpick and once it is on each side of the frame you spread it across the opening. It forms a film which sets and makes a window. You can see it used on Youtube, just type in humbrol clearfix.

I think it's a cast resin lynx that needs windows painting on not glazing Brian.

Having said that , clearfix is a great product. :-))

In wargaming, there are two schools of thought, the bright blue for effect, and the dark grey/black for more realism. I go for the latter as you can then gloss varnish them and alow real life lighting to add the reflections etc.
