Hi all, Hope you all don't mind me posting another build log, I do like to look back on my builds and posting them on Mayhem is a good way to keep me focused on keeping a log up to date.
So this log is going to be my version of a semi scale 1960's Diva, she's 580mm long and 180mm beam, powered by a brushed 400 motor, mainly because I had a spare etronix probe brushed ESC, plus I'm only looking for scale speed, and I'll see how she performs with a two bladed prop to start with.
I've spent the last two days drawing up the plans, as I said in another thread it's been over 40 years since I scratch built a hard chine hull so I'm really drawing on the old memory here, I'm planning on making the whole cabin/wheelhouse/cockpit removable as one unit giving full access to the running gear etc. the finish will be white hull with blue boot topping/ blue cabin/wheelhouse with white roofs instead of the more traditional varnished mahogany.
I was off to the local model shop tomorrow to get all the ply/strip wood for it but just thought I would do a price comparison between the local shop/ slec,uk and CMB for the list I had the local shop was £27.49 for the same list Slec uk was £12.29 with CMB somewhere in the middle, even with the postage Slec uk was £9 cheaper, Ok model shops have overheads but presumably Slec must also have overheads just like model shops they have to keep their stock somewhere, so sorry it's a no brainer for me and I don't have to get the car out and find somewhere to park.
