Very kind, guys, but I know I tend to use too much solder, anyway I've now done a basic paint job and replaced all the running gear and did the first float test, that was very satisfactory with no leaks, and even with the 4000mah. lipo still needed 160 grams of ballast, I had feared she would sit too low, in which case I would have had to have used a smaller battery, so have to say I 'm very happy with her, and just need to add finishing touches, I intend to keep her basically white with some blue trimming paint.

Thanks guys, I'm quite pleased with the finish considering it's plywood, it did have three coats of primer rubbed down with 800g paper, and five top coats, one and a half 500m cans. %%

Amen. I envy you chaps and the finish you get. I suppose it is mainly elbow grease that does it.

It's also running round the garage after you've just finished spraying it chasing all the "xxxxxxxx" black fly out. %%  {-)

Made up a master cleat so I can cast a few, I'm not going to fit too many fittings on her, just the cleats and a bow roller, and maybe some nav lights later, she's more of a fun boat than a display model.

Hm, it sounds like your painting sessions could become very 'Slap stick' where flies and the like are involved. Just don't swat the fly and then accidently backswat your model leaving a waffle impression in the hull {:-{

I had thought of making the seats with a foam covered in cloth of some sort but this would no doubt frequently get wet so I simulated them with styrene, I'll have the "upholstery" blue to match the spray rail etc. the boats will have to go on hold for a couple of days, my hot water cylinder sprung a weeping leak, and the new one came today. it's years since I did any plumbing, I've had to clean and oil my steelsons and pipe cutter etc.

Well that's the hot water cylinder done, ;) second time I've renewed this cylinder, first time was about 30 years ago, the cylinder was £80 then, this one was £287, I could have built another boat for that, well nearly. %% %% {-)

Well apart from maybe fitting some lights, that's Diva finished, a quick but very enjoyable build, apart from the running gear the only item I didn't make was the lifebuoy that I had in the rummage box, so she'll be going for trials next week it will be interesting to see how she performs, I built in enough room for the next size up prop if necessary, but judging by a power up the domestic wet dock she just want's to go, so it looks promising.

A very nice little sports boat  :-))

Just one little point thou, the bow roller looks far to big and out of proportion for the size of boat

She looks excellent and again your detailing really adds that extra pzazz to an already brill model.

The benefit I can see from having a larger roler is that it will be quite strong against the time it bonks off the lake edge a bit too fast >:-o

Thanks guys, I wasn't happy with the bow roller as Leaky Bottom quite rightly pointed out it looked way too big, so I made another about half the size, and although the whole boat is only an approximate scale I'm quite happy with this bow roller.

Thanks for your comments,    Had her first trials today, when you build a boat from a kit especially a fast boat you can be fairly sure of a known performance, as Diva was scratch built I had no idea how she would perform, of course I knew she would float, go ahead and astern, so it came as a pleasing surprise when she came up on the plane and performed better than I had hoped, even in a fairly strong breeze and quite choppy with spray going over her deck inside remained dry, I took two 4000mah lipo's with me but only used one in a one and a half hour session so quite happy with the run time, although she's fast enough for me I may try the next size up prop as I have built in enough room for it, the motor and ESC get barely warm even at full throttle so for the cost of a plastic prop I give it a go, in the photo's she's at half throttle.

Also, you know it is a fun model so you have a bit more leeway if it starts out a bit tender or just pain off balance, whereas your Brocklesby for example, having all that detail and expense, there is the worry about stability and water ingress to consider.

She looks a natural on the water :-))
