She looks a proper cruiser Joe very nicely done from pen to paint.
Her tumble home on the stern view suits her perfectly to my eyes, well done sir  :-))

A top job, you shown us nice build with a few lovely pics of the boat running.
What motor did you end up with and prop combination.
I see that ewe are planning a few prop experiments with plastic ones.
I have found the metal ones better in the same size and pitch.

She's got a 1100K outrunner that's seems well up to the job and a 35mm two blade plastic prop, I too prefer brass props and she will have one eventually but plastic ones are cheaper to experiment with. :-))

Totally agree with you prop idea's.
The motor must be a 28mm as the 35mm one's I have run 40mm props.

I've just found a 30mm three blade brass prop in my spares box, I'll try it out at my local lake on Monday just as a comparison.

Tested the 30mm three blade brass prop but performance was somewhat reduced, so I went to the local lake again today and bought a 40mm X type prop on the way, and now she has the performance I was looking for, very respectable speed but in keeping with the scale, very happy with her now great fun, I can see her sailing often. Again thanks for your interest and kind remarks.  :-))

No worries Joe, your projects (like many on here) are interesting to read and study. It beats watching talent competitions thousands of timesover!

The last time Diva was sailed the performance was quite acceptable, but I got the feeling that the turns were a bit vague like the rudder couldn't handle the trust from the X type prop I concluded that I hadn't made the rudder large enough, so I set out yesterday to make a larger one, simple things to make so I thought this may help any new comers to the hobby so they can see you don't have to buy pricey commercial stock rudders when you can make them for a few pence.
The centre lamination is 1.5 mm. styrene and the outer ones are 1mm. styrene the shaft is 3mm. brass rod, and I've used a water proof epoxy,
Joe :-))

Looking forward to the results of your latest tests Joe - hope you get the performance you're looking for. :-)

Ray.

Just noticed it's been 7 months since I made the larger rudder and only just got round to trying it out yesterday, the turning was so sharp I had to adjust the end points on the Tx to 50 % because I tried a hard turn at full throttle and it turned so tight that she made a vortex inside the turn and nearly submarined into it, when I brought her back in she had a cockpit full of water but dry inside, so with the new Tx settings I can thrash her all over the lake and she just takes it well.

Sure was Ian, I've never seen a boat do that before it simply made a vortex on the sharp turn and almost fell into it, if I had left the power on I think it would have, the reduce rudder movement has cured it.
