I'd like to add my thanks to everyone involved in organising the weekend, especially Martin and family, and everyone that showed up.

It's been 6 years since I showed up at Wicksteed (and two since I've been on here) but it's good to be back, and great to see all the old faces.

Highlights of the weekend were:

- Finding a prop nut in the bottom of the lake (see above photo...)
- Pete: "put a 9 volt in it Phil" Phil, 2 minutes later as straight runner hurtles across the lake in a very non straight manner "ANDYYYYYY!"
- Looking very nonchalant, whilst actually being a giant tent peg for Phil's gazebo
- The Secret 10's epic initial battle, then very long drawn out way of finding who had the better battery...
- Random woman carrying a swan
- Phil's Granddaughter being better at straight running than him
- Getting Mr Mayhem himself to actually sail a boat!

Thanks to all

Another great Mayhem weekend, so many thanks to Martin, the 'tea team' and the committee!
I promise that I'll try not to sink next year :embarrassed: but at least I managed to prove that Mr Thornycroft was fairly good at his job :-))

You showed us what destroyers can do Tony and that is with a bottle of Old Speckled Hen on the go!

Thanks for a lovely weekend folks.
-I spent far more than I intended thanks to Klunk's hypnotic sales patter!

-We did indeed see that both of Phil's Granddaughters are better at him at model boating activities as his youngest sailed a yacht around the lake Sunday morming like she had done it for years!

-The bacon rolls were deeeeelish, as was the tea and coffee. I apologise to Bob K, for waking him up to see if he wanted a brew. Luckily he did  :embarrassed:

-Agin and Court met in the middle after a little gentle 'nudgery' and then proceeded to sail around the pond sedately looking like a bloomin star, and that's in ply and primer.

-The return trip home was much better than the drive up, though we had biblical floods, thunder and lightning around Birmingham. The drive south of that just got better until Somerset when it was just as good as it had been at Wicky.

-Sunday was a lovely day of yachting and relaxing. Here' to next year with a boat that sails!!!!

Many thanks to Martin and the Team for an awesome Mayhem Weekend.  Special thanks also to Geoff and C-3PO for their efforts in getting my Agincourt first sailing underway.  IMO if people only ever went to just one show a year, Mayhem is the one to put top of the To-Do list.  So many good friends, awesome ships, and two days of continuous fun.

I will admit to being totally exhausted after the journey home.  At lot of late nights, and very early starts, on my big ships development programme.  Sustained by a joyous late evening BBQ, I was introduced to sloe gin  %%
I can almost forgive the weather filling my tent with water overnight.

Well what a weekend!
I’ve just recovered this morning from the lack of sleep from Saturday evening (if you get the chance to stay over for the night I highly recommend it- so much much fun seeing what can be BBQ’d as Klunk has a way with cooking anything really well).  O0
Who would have believed the weather too, I was truly expecting the biblical rain on the Sunday and vigilantly watched the skies for transgressions but there were none!
Any way...
A big thank you to Martin, Ruth and Gina for their hard work manning the Mayhem tent- I certainly needed the bacon butties and coffee yesterday.
A big thanks to Klunk and the Luton/Hemmel clubs for all the help especially the Springer Demolition Derby, we’ve got some great ideas for next year and I can’t wait!
Of course who can’t forget Phil and Steph allowing their grandchildren to beat them at straight running (sorry did I say allow! {-) ).
I want to personally thank Davie and Capt Ron (2 of the infamous Scottish Lads) for the funniest time I’ve had in years and for helping the Wicksteed club pack away our kit.
It was great to see Ron Dean- yes he was actually sailing this year- four different boats he told me and he did mention that the radio gear wasn’t valve radio too ! %%
It was great to see old friends and some new ones too, I’m looking forward to next year when I presume the weather will go back to normal service!!!!
Thanks everyone for a brilliant weekend and see you all soon!
And don’t forget to look in your future copies of Model Boats magazine to see the new editors report on the weekend. :-))

Another year another FANTASTIC event, Ruth and Gina certainly deserve a shopping trip now Martin  :-))
Thanks to Andy and Phil for the glue otherwise my tug boat would not of made it onto the water, always prepared and spent a good couple of hours on the water trouble free again.

Klunks sailing yacht is a thing of beauty not to mention his selling skills to Shipmate60 (Bob).

Lovely chat with Ron and a pleasure to see the new boat.
Martin from Model boats magazine what a nice chap and even took some photos with his mammoth lens.

All in all a super event thats NOT to be missed

That is one incredibly inspiring model Geoff.  Your unique gun fire system, thanks to your appreciated help, is currently installed in my HMS Agincourt.  I didn't quite get it to a point where I could fire back at you this weekend, but very significant progress is being made towards achieving this.   O0

I did enjoy seeing capital ships being escorted by destroyers over the weekend. Tony did a sterling job protecting them from submarines. Geoff did bonk a mine with Iron Duke Saturday morning and I am sure Tony would have been there sharpish to take off survivors  :-))

Seeing his HMS Marksman on the water gave me renewed confidence in the freeboard of my little lard tub destroyer!
