Looking forward to this year, we are in the process of sorting everything out at the parks end with regards to the camping and the usual.


I’m going to put the ad in the Model Boats magazine diary so the whole community knows the what, where, and when.
Once again we are having a Springer battle for those wishing to take part, the Secret 10 are doing a thing again- find out what on the Saturday afternoon!, and I think we were discussing a few months back about a Fairey fleet of Huntsman, Huntress and Swordsman. Would everyone like to me to mention this in the ad? And will people bring them along for the weekend if we do?  I know we don’t tend to have 100% organised events for the weekend but if I mention it are we going to have an uptake of members sailing or displaying them?
It’ll be a month before I send it off to the editor so I’d appreciate some feedback of ideas and anything you’d be interested in bringing.

Do you have a specification of what and what not you can do with your springer tug Size Material etc.

If I remember correctly (Klunk will have the full set of rules) it was a standard sized springer hull made from either balsa or foam. No reinforcements such as GRP etc. No projectiles or explosives to be used as weapons. 500 motor with a maximum of a 7.2v battery. I think that was it. It was a good laugh last year!

evening everyone, im looking to attend this years event having seen pictures from the last few years, 2 questions really. is there anywhere accessable to launch and recover larger models? also is there space so tether a larger model up to the side? to save my back?

Gllad you are planning to make the pilgrimage!


We have a harbour area with two docking berths that are used for launching and tethering models when you need a rest. If you need a lift there are plenty of us who will give assistance and we have club trolleys for moving them from the car park to the lake.

thank you very much, ive never been to one of these events before, but its the only time id be able to get this large model out as its too big for my local club lake, i hope to see you there :)

Yes, the lake has a lovely path all around it that gives easy access to the water, and the harbour is excellent. Deffo ask if you need a hand, its a great crowd that attends 'Wicky'.
