Five and a half hours up and two and a half back which was rather better.

Great event with lots of very interesting boats on display and working. And my three worked without breaking down too!
Really appreciated the work that has gone on to stage it all, Martin, aided and abetted by the sterling efforts of the host Wicksteed club led by Nick Brown which made it all come together. Full marks to you all.

And a special mention to Mrs Martin and daughter Martin for dispensing tea and biscuits etc. As I said to them, we are playing and you are working and we really appreciate it.

Yes,  very true, thanks ladies! ( I'll still be paying for the service 11 months from now!  ) ok2

We arrived bright and early this morning and astonished to see how good the weather was, even at 8am!

Started unpacking the car, get the Mayhem 'mini' marque up so can get tea going, unpack, unpack, unpack....... where are the corner bits?!?!?!?  :o
After a bit of a panic Steve Brown says;

'not to worry, we've got your big Marquee here...we brought as you didn't say you didn't want us to dig it out and bring it!'  <*<
Me: '...... the straps for the big marquee .... are in the same box as the corners for the 'mini' marquee ...'  :embarrassed:
Steve: '.... stupid boy...'

Anyway, Dennis from the Northampton & District MBC VERY Kindly offered us a corner in their posh marquee and tea was a brewing before 9am..... and the lynching subsided shortly afterwards.

But what a great Day!

Usual thanks go out to the Wicksteeded Park model boat club again for hosting us again this year. many thanks.
Special mentions in dispatches for Nick, Steve, Alan and Nigel.  :-))

Highlights of the day:
The BIG three British Battle-wagons menacingly patrolling the lake,
The big Lifeboats,
Andy's Speedline Shannon, it looks great and runs amazingly well,
The two Thames barges, very interesting,
Andy and Richard , the 'Multi' Demo runs,
Huge variety of boats on the water throughout the day, at one stage we counted 32!
The quiet revolution of the yachts in the afternoon,
John Dee super impressive J-class monster,
Bob K's HMS Angencore - most impressive model boat sound system... Ever!
The Batman boat!
SteamboatPhil & Keith straight running.... and showing us how to loose your eyebrows!  {-)

.... let me have look through the photos to remind myself! ...... 2300..... plus the video clips!

Such a good day, the thing that really stood out was the different range of models on the water. Incredible selection and can't wait to see what's on offer tomorrow.

Particular highlight for me was the straight running, not something I've ever really had much of an interest in before

Great photos from what was obviously a great weekend. I hope you all appreciate that I sent a special message to the weather gods to turn on some typically Australian winter weather for Mayhem, and they obliged %)

Hey Y'all!

Back from the 'Magic of Wicksteed!'

Weather not as great as yesterday, a couple short showers in the morning didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm.  :-))

Hot bacon rolls.... still surprisingly popular 6 year running, strange.  %)

Typing this while downloading photos from camera, only a bit tired but still feeling.....

     Zzzzzzzzzz!

Wowsers that was a great weekend you had! I cannot wait to see more pictures and videos to look through this week. I wanted to attend this year, but my holiday ended too near to the show to make it feasible to have the time off what with my birthday also falling last Thursday so needed to be with the family.

The tribe of Capital ships and that of beautiful sailers is increasing at a prodigious rate! I reckon next year the water will be completely covered with them  :}

I hope to be with you all next year, perhaps with something to sail  %%

a totally fantastic weekend. missed the Scottish contingent though.  some falling down water consumed. not much apart from batteries sold.
Ron dean on great form. The shirt's were great. watching Andy chase swans...got to be the most memorable sight on Sunday!
thanks to all those old and new who camped over. hope you all enjoyed it.
bug thanks as ever to all at Wicksteed for hosting us again. Steve nearly died by Blackheaths sign!
thanks to all those who turned up and the support from those who didn't.

new threads soon about 2020. new and exciting ideas have been put forward, so keep an eye out.

I salute your enthusiasm both. I have been involved with annual events where organisers did not want any mention of the following year's activities for several months!

A massive thanks once again to everyone involved in running the weekend, was excellent as always. Special thanks to Nick for letting me run the noisy things, Phil and Steph for their usual amazing hospitality, and of course Martin for being.. Martin %)
Biggest highlight of the weekend for me was sending the 90 multi round the lake, looking across the pond and seeing Phil's face lit up like a kid at christmas...
I've decided to quit the day job to persue my career in goose wrangling.
Thanks to all!
