Got back about 2 hours ago. What a fantastic weekend, brilliant to put some faces to names.
Special thanks to Klunk Steamboat and Raflaunches and loads of you I can't remember (well it was about 6 hours ago) for making a stranger from down south welcome.
Sincerely hope to see you all next year when I be better equipped for the fun.

Well just got back and semi-recovered!

Absolutely brilliant weekend, I was that busy talking and sailing that I didnt eat my sandwiches until at least 4pm!
I don't think we had seen this many people attending since the third Mayhem weekend, I would say between 2/3 and 3/4 of the lakeside was covered with model boats on the Saturday. Sunday was less due to the predicted weather ruining the morning but most of us stayed until 3:30pm before it took another weather interruption to stop play!
Thanks to Martin for his endless hosting, and picture taking, how he does this and keep the forum going I never know. I actually think there are more tha n one of him! Martin was on ball with his usual attire but he had competition this year for loudest shirt! More on that in a little while... %)
I would like to personally thank Klunk for all his help behind the scenes, whilst Wicksteed Park MBC do stirling work constructing the site and maintainng the lake this man is instrumental in sorting the planned events. As Pete has said in his post, we have many new plans for 2020 which will come apparent over the next few months which we think everyone will enjoy and be interested in.
I would like to say thanks to Andyn and his mate Richard for putting on an excellent demonstration of i/c boats, whilst not going at their maximum speed for obvious reasons I think they displayed what i/c boats can achieve in a limited size lake.
Phil and Keith returned Straight running to Wicksteed with some of the most iconic boats they had, Phil actually scored well! He was reminded that relative beginners had beaten him a few years earlier including Steph! Excellent to see them running again- and for seeing Phil re-create his self-combustion for Martin's delight!
Once again a big thank you to the ladies of Mayhem- Ruth and Gina who kept us in coffee and tea for both days, and of course for the bacon butties today.
It was great to see old and new friends again, it was nice to see Colin Bishop sailing his boats with Dave Milbourn in a Fairey boat spectacular. It was brilliant to compare HMS Invincibles with Geoff Dixon, we both went back home inspired to get them finished for next Mayhem. The five Dreadnought era battleships/battlecruisers squadron just showed how big the G3 was and how little Invincible was compared to later vessels. We had Ron and Sheila Kingdon sailing Rodney and G3 (also called Invincible), Geoff Dixon sailing Iron Duke, Bob K sailing Agincourt, and me with my unfinished Invincible.
One thing we mustn't forget is the continued support from our traders Ron and Carl who have been avid supporters of the weekend, Ron sailed his boats and got his latest release wet on the lake. I'd like Carl to know that I am very impressed with his Norland kit, even my Mum is impressed with the quality of the kit!
Scottish lads- we missed you- please return next year! :-))
And finally, and most importantly- thank you to all the clubs and individuals who displayed, sailed, or visited over the weekend. We hope you enjoyed the show and would like to return next year. We have big plans and some brilliant new ideas that will be advertised on the forum very soon- we would like to see some of you take up the challenge of some of them as some of them are proper fun! :-))
Here is to next year!

I will most likely come next year  :-))  very enjoyable thank you.
Journey home up the A1 was uneventful and reached the vans ground zero storage in just over 2 hrs. Now I'm dismantling the Shannon to continue preparation for further painting so no more sailing until complete.

Many thanks to you and your colleagues for all the hard work in making it all come together. I know from previous experience just what is entailed.

Likewise, it's always nice to meet people you normally only correspond with online.

Very impressed with your model. I can't build to that standard in that scale.

13-15 Shannon in the blushing colour scheme!

Definitely Scarborough Fair - especially when you paint the rest of it!

Thank you yes I hope to finish this Summer finally. My ambition is to grab a photo of her at Scarborough on a training day with the real lady far enough behind that they appear same size. This model is definitely made for the sea rather than a pond.
She did take water onboard Saturday but not enough to trigger the bulge pump  :-))
