We will be holding our annual steam and Mountfeet models open day on Sunday 24 of April. Location Wilton Park Batley more information early next week.

Just a week now before our first open day. If you like steam powered models then please feel free to come along and join us for the day. Boiler testing will be carried out on Sunday morning and we hope to have many steam powered models on the water around 2pm. Trophy for best steam model on the day. Also if you own a Mountfleet model you are also welcome to join us for the day and again a trophy for the best Mountfleet model. Adam Slater will be on site if you have any questions about Mountfleet products. If you would like to come along and sail other types of models you are more than welcome with the exception of IC OR HIGH SPEED FAST ELECTRICS. Free all day car parking, toilets in the park and refreshments. Event location Wilton Park Bradford Road Batley WF17 8JH start time 10 am until 3 30 pm. Further information contact

Hello,

Just returned home from a very enjoyable day out - - sailing - - at the Kirklees Club.
Took my J Class Endeavour and my One Metre yacht, and sailed both of them !.
There was a chill wind, but it was all over the country, I was glad of it, made for some good sailing !!.
Did lots of chatting too, lots of smiling faces, all in all, a real good day out !!!!.

Roll on the next one !.

Thank you to all that attended today. Our tester was kept busy all morning. The weather was cold but we carried on pictures to follow tomorrow.

HI everyone, despite the cold weather club members turned out so the event could take place. It was dry but very cold around 8 am when we started to erect our tents. I am pleased to say the tea and coffee was soon flowing long before our event started. We had guests from the following clubs Bury, Runcorn, Crewe? Claro, York, St Helens, Mountfleet Models and one individual display. My first pictures show our home water looking good now the trees are starting in leaf and the rescue boat fitted with a new outboard and some of our tents been erected for the event. The second group of pictures show a steam plant that was made in 1954 and was fitted in a large model tug. I was surprised to see it used coal to provide the heat for the boiler. More to follow .

I bet that boiler was a popular place to meet; combining interest and a chance to warm your hands by the firebox!

Some more pictures from Sunday. First group a selection of Mountfleet models then a tug that looks like it came out of horror movie looks very good on a cold misty winters morning. Next two lobster boats one old one new. A selection of large tugs and a very small sail vessel and finally a group of hover craft models. Last few this evening.

Just found these last three pictures. Our rescue boat with its new outboard motor it now planes at full throttle. Another shot of old Foggy and finally a very large steam powered tug. Although the day was cold a good time was had by all.

HI I just received some more pictures of the event. First a large and heavy steam tug a shot inside our tents. Third picture club members checking out a nice steam model. Finally a lake shot of a model under way powered by steam enjoy.
