Hi,
Further to my post about paddle wheels at the most recent shows by the Model Steamer Club of Glasgow, I thought fellow Mayhemers might be interested in this under construction model, M.V. Caledonia built by Andrew Petrie.
M.V. Caledonia was the third ship of that name to serve with the Caledonian Steam Packet Company and was originally the Stena Baltica built in Norway and operated in Scandanavia before the CSPC acquired her, their first ro-ro ferry.
Andrew was keen to have an operating visor and ramp and has managed to achieve that:-
There are two linear actuators running the mechanism through Bowden cables and an r/c aircraft undercarriage sequencer is there to allow, with one switch throw, the visor to open and then, after a delay, the ramp to lower.
It all happens nice and smoothly and nice and slowly and looks most realistic.
And here's the video:-

All the best
Sandy
