Hello from sunny Portsmouth
« on: May 06, 2016, 03:16:14 pm »

Hello, new to the forum and what a lot I have to learn.

The idea of a steam powered boat fired my interest so im currently making a (mess of!) Midwest Fantail. I dont have an engine but I can do that part being well use to steam engines and machining but I have even less of a clue about remote control.

I also have some grand idea to convert a midwest dingy into a mini electric powered boat and am making that whilst waiting for things to dry on the fantail.

As the title says based in portsmouth most of the time so I guess I need to look up the portsmouth club sometime as I have no idea where to sail other than the local toy steam shows I attend.

Welcome to the madness, fellow Pompey fellow ( The Jewel of the South of England, and as is our tradition, we will beat up anyone who disagrees :} ). Canoe Lake on the seafront is the usual haunt for Portsmouth and District, the Display Team and the Southsea Model Yacht Club. It may be salt water, but if you keep it on the outside of the model, all will be well!

Many helpful souls gather here on a regular basis, mostly round the time of the full moon :-))

Welcome to the forum Kevin.

The lake is a lovely place. I did not realise it was home to the Portsmouth club until after I moved away from the region as I would have popped down more regularly. My father was born and raised in Eastney, so used to visit my Granny and Southsea on occasion.
