Yes, these brilliant ideas somehow miss the point that if your hairdryer only gets barely warm you will simply run it for longer - you still have the same energy total need to dry your hair. If they want to cut down on hairdryer power then there should be a law that everyone should have a short back and sides or even a shaven head.

Anyway, I have enough 100 watt bulbs in store to see me out.....

You can still get incandescent light bulbs if you try. My local lighting shop still sells them and there is a very good online supplier I use for specialist bulbs.

https://www.lightbulbs-direct.com/

I still prefer them over the energy saving ones as I think the colour temperature from them is far nicer than the brighter, blue, cold light that LED's, Halogens and florescent give.

I hate Halogen light bulbs on cars as they are too bright if badly adjusted and go through all sorts of mini colour changes including Emergency blue.

Now I am not worried about being caught by our constabulary, but if I see blue lights I always look for ambulances etc so I can begin to plan a stop and pass procedure for them reducing my attention in all areas as much as I want while I look for a dropped curve or how to slow and stop in one of my local car destroying laybys (The potholes are lethal!)

I recall that new EU rules meant restrictions on the permissible power of vacuum cleaners. The manufacturers grumbled but they designed new products capable of equivalent - or better - performance than older models and the public benefitted from lower electricity bills. It's not all bad news.

You can now get LED bulbs with a decent colour temperature. I have got a dimmable one which gives out a very good light - it did cost me £12 though so I expect it to last a long time.

I don't see much point in discussing the EU referendum on Mayhem, our members are just as ignorant as anyone else.  %%

If only that was the whole story; certain continental manufacturers ensured that the new E.U. performance tests on vacuum cleaners would be done without a dust collection bag.

Once a bag is fitted they fail the tests !

Who knew !

Keeping on track here, I can clearly understand the benefit of reverting back and using one of Granny's "Keeps Hot" crocheted woollen jug cosy blankets ........but now to be used during the heating process  O0........ Derek
