Dual conversion receiver
« on: May 14, 2016, 08:11:52 am »

i am not very bright when it comes to electronics and radio etc. I needed a small receiver to fit my Engel type 7c. Not a lot of room where it sits. I purchased a small 40 MHz receiver which fits where it needs to go. I then obtained some 40 MHz crystals. I wanted to test and nothing works??? I then disconnect and get a 40 MHz receiver out of my box and using on outside of tek rack try out and it works. My transmitter is a new F16. The small receiver I got is dual conversion ....what never heard or considered it?
Is this the reason it doesn't work....do I need dual conversion crystals is there such a thing?
I am finding the Engel Type 7 very hard to work with just no room, so tight think I could be a surgeon....not easy for a 70 year old ex karate expert and 15 Dan with all his fingers joined together......only joking. 😂😂

Yes, you do - and yes, there is. Goodness knows where you'd find a set these days, though.

Robin,

Hope these links aren't Red Herrings!

Looks like they have some dual conversion crystals in sock - not sure they are both rx/tx and compatible but worth a call

Just in case Robin is still confused, you can use a dual conversion receiver crystal with a "normal" transmitter crystal as long as they are both on the same channel and frequency.

Robin

You could also try Scoonie-hobbies - need to telephone (01592 651792).

I bought a couple off them recently - they are prepared to deal with sassenachs!  O0
