hi guys just got my self a bristol bay 
been after one for a while and seen this bargain on a well known auction site. and picked it up for a bargain price.
she has some good detail but needs weathering as she is far to clean.
came with radio ready to run. but after reading on internet i removed the radio and fitted my gear and new esc.
while i was at it i converted it to take 6v 4ah Pb battery. and converted the lights to run off my channel 5 switch on my radio ( frsky taranus plus )
will get some picks of her sailing at the weekend.

It's uncanny that my colour scheme should be the same as the Bristol Bay - and the hull shape and deck / mast layouts are the same as well!

N.B. It should be noted that I'd never seen a Bristol Bay until after I'd completed my model.

the bristol bay is a semi copy of the graupner elk only a bit larger mate.
and she sails just as nice as the elk. only fault is it is way over powered on the battery they recommend for her hence the conversion to a pb 6v 4ah battery. 
nice rebuild of the the elk she turned out very nice mate.
im curantly looking for a hull the same shape as the elk but larger around 40in to 50in for a project i have in mind.

Thanks for the link there Mick. How I managed to miss that one is beyond me - your Elke conversion looks brilliant so far and shows that you are not afraid to experiment - well done mate.

thanks ray i love a challenge  and like your elk i had no plans to help with the conversion mate
buy the way ray thanks for mentioning the colour you used on your elk hull as it is very close to the bristol bay hull

i did finish the conversion but forgot to get pics before she went to a new owner who was very happy with the boat

in fact the reason i bought the bristol bay was to convert her to a armed trawler. as she is a lot bigger then the elk at 31in long
but when i got the boat and seen how nice she is it would of been a shame to brake her up so i am leaving her as is. and  just going to weather her to look more scale
