Fairmount alpine query (again)
« on: July 02, 2016, 02:18:58 pm »

Hi I'm trying to do the rubbing strips on the fairmount hull at the bow . I've got the blue areas from the drawing but wondering if anyone that's done it could help with dimensions for the area around the anchor box openings as I'm trying to do it from pics and it's not looking right

Heres a picture of mine - They are far from perfect but what I did was to use the full size plans that are supplied with the kit to make them.  The angles are tricky and I used card to get the rough shape before making them from ply.  I found it to be a trial and error exercise rather than a precise measurement.

hi Vts99 I used Evergreen plastic strip and copied the plan ,as Mark says .I drew mine out and used a pair of dividers  from one reference point that the same on port and starboard, If I remember right the strips are 5mm wide .I had some Trend double sided tape sticks very well ,also made templets to make sure thy were in the right place .If I think back thy do not follow the angle up from the hull side ,take you time and keep your angle pieces parallel   , Thy only have to be out a little bit and thy look rubbish The anchor protection plates made out of the same thickness Evergreen plastic sheet ,these were slit so thy can take the hull form then filled and sanded down .
Good luck with the masking up to do the paint work
