 Hello from Boksburg South Africa.
My name is Piet and I have been sailing full size Laser and Fireball boats since 1973.
At the moment I am renovating a 1975 Mirror for the grand kids (loads of woodrot).
I also do RC flying for which I build my own models.
Our sailing club has a few members that do RC sailing during the winter months when the sailing season is closed and the water is rather cool, to be able to join them I have bought a RTR Joysway Focus in the mean time till all my other project have been completed and if the bug bites will be looking at possibly building a boat.
Regards to all :-))
Piet

Welcome from another model flier. Easy transition I made was via the ubiquitous Springer, an easy first build, a sort of Lazy Bee of model boating.   I don't know if there are any in South Africa, check the thread to see some samples. :-))   Edit, bit slow this morning. You have to call your Springer " Springboker" :embarrassed: %)
