Courier deliveries
« on: July 11, 2016, 01:24:16 pm »

I have just signed for a White Stuff clothing delivery for my wife. Delivery vans are frequent (seems like daily) visitors due to both personal and business use.

For the first time ever the delivery guy took a picture on his little tech signature device of my front door (probably me and my address plate all at the same time) I then signed on the same device for the delivery.

How about that for proof of delivery!

Probably been stung before by someone saying they hadn't received their goods.

It's a wicked world we live in.

Good on him for his own safety and peace of mind.

Jim - I agree - good on him.

I don't think this was him doing this solo - this was all integrated into the little gadget we sign on the screen,  so a courier company's system - it appeared to be part of the delivery protocol - I think maybe we will see more of this... maybe a pic of the recipient holding the goods showing the delivery label would be more a step to far or would it if it helped eliminate fraud!

It's good for those people selling on such sites as eBay.

All too often you hear of a vendor having to pay back to the purchaser because they "didn't" receive the goods when they did, so this is also a good thing all round.

May I ask who the company was that he represented.

Saw something similar recently, the courier photographing the parcel he was leaving outside a neighbours door as he couldn't find anyone to take it in.  We came back, and he left it with us.

We have recently 'lost' a gift sent to my wife for her birthday, the courier delivered It to a safe place 'between the bins', we were away when the bin men came and they have obviously taken it thinking it was rubbish...

We know it wasn't us that signed for it as we were on a cruise!

Sometime ago, I bought a boat hull from Ebay and it was sent by courier. The address given was my nephews garage business as it was easy to find and staffed during the working day. When nothing turned up, I queried it with the seller who checked with the courier firm who said that it had been delivered and sent him an email copy of the delivery signature. Unfortunately, no one of that name worked for us or neighbouring firms.  The seller said that he would take it up with the couriers.
A couple of days later I was at the garage when a van turned up and out got the courier with the hull . I signed for it and asked how come this had been delivered the week before. No answer from the driver who just dived into the van and drove off! I won't name names, but it was a national company
