Colwyn Bay Model Boat Club are pleased to confirm that our annual
Mayor's Cup Regatta will be held on
Sunday, 24th July, 2016 at our lake behind
Colwyn Bay Civic Offices, LL29 8AR. All model boat enthusiasts are most welcome to come along, either individually or as a Club, and we will happily provide space for gazebos and display tables. We can supply a limited number of pre-booked 6ft tables if necessary. There will be reserved space right behind your gazebo/display for club parking and picnics etc. Refreshments are available throughout the day, or you can simply bring your own.
In 2015, 12 clubs from across the U.K. attended and provided displays together with another 4 individual displays.
This event is now widely publicised in local papers and on street banners and attracts a large number of local visitors and holidaymakers, especially since there is plenty of free parking within yards of the lake and there is no admission charge. The very popular John Palmer Regatta Competition will be held for visitors again this year, is open to any visitor who puts a model boat on display and simply fills in an application form on arrival. There are 2 classes to the competition: Class 1 - models judged whilst sailing on the lake and Class 2- static display models. Models can be entered into both competitions. All three competition judges will be selected by and from visiting clubs.
The arrangements will be broadly similar to previous years.
Clubs wishing to reserve space for a Gazebo, or requiring further information etc should contact our Club Secretary, Alan Woodward by email -
secretary@colwynbaymbc.co.uk There are no charges for any traders who wish to set up stands, just book your space in advance.
This year's Regatta is featured in the November issue of Model Boats Magazine and photos of previous Regattas can be viewed here ...........
