CarFest North (Bolesworth Castle, Cheshire)
« on: July 18, 2016, 06:56:42 pm »

Via Email to Mayhem...

Hello Martin

I email regarding  an opportunity to get involved with CarFest North (Cheshire). The sell-out festival is the brainchild of Chris Evans’ and has wowed more than 337,000 visitors and are now firmly established as one of the summers most family-friendly festivals.

Most importantly, the events have raised a cumulative total of £6.7million for BBC Children In Need.

We are very excited this year as we are moving to a new venue at Bolesworth Castle. A truly beautiful landscapes, and for the first time in CarFest history, we now have access to a lake! Chris absolutely loves model boats and is very eager to have some activity on the lake. Would this be possible?

We would absolutely love to get you involved

Thank you

I could have my facts wrong, but for info , we were invited last year or the year before, The fest is on for 3 days , I am sure they required us to be set up on the Thursday and that models could not be taken away daily.. Could be completely wrong but worth baring in mind, if they would agree to a rota where some could do, Friday/ sat / sunday etc I think it would be quite appealing.

Ok found the emails, it was 2014  and no mention in them of conditions so could be an idea to have a Mayhem group, but I could probably only do 1 day if nothing crops up by then !! as it is very short notice

I would imagine for those displaying and not trading tickets are either heavily discounted or free ?

Yes, some shows give a discount if you are showing an interesting/relevant car, but as this is a big fundraiser, and it's already pretty much booked up, I doubt you'll get much if anything off.
That no discount is mentioned in the OP is telling - no harm in asking though.

2 adults and 2 kids camping £301
And it's reasonably safe and there are things for all the family.
The recent junkie get together sorry, T in the park was @£250 per person camping
That was to get flooded, covered in mud, things stolen attacked  by neds /yobs and OD on drugs
So it's not that badly priced....

The email is though asking YOU (Martin) to assist so it's all negotiable and if it doesn't
Meet the minimum requirement level don't do....
Without speaking to the organisers nobody knows what is on offer

I live not too far from Goodwood and used to go to the Festival of Speed each year but that is now £60 a day to get in. I looked at the Goodwood revival event and entry only on the Sunday is £73 each.

As much as I'd love to go and sure it is a great day that is a pushing the boundaries for me now.

So  come and display your models but you have to pay to get in, I can't see that having much appeal

OK
Have had a chat with the sender of the email,

Not sure if anyone else has been in contact with them however

I am not saying it will definetly happen but PM me if you would be interested in displaying at the show and what day, I would imagine you would need to bring 2-3 boats and with some able to display in the lake. You do not need to display for all 3 days, it would be good if we could get people down for all 3 days but at such short notice this may not happen and I would need to see what we could arrange.

Going forward I would think this could be a good Mayhem get together under the Mayhem Banner with individuals / clubs displaying on a particular day/days if Martin approves, else just a collection of Moddlers.
