Graupner Fireboat WESER full of vintage R/C Gear
« on: July 21, 2016, 03:46:49 pm »

I bought a couple of boats the other day & they included this Graupner Weser Fireboat. When I got it hope I had a quick look inside & it is crammed full of electrical stuff. I see 3 Monoperm motors, a speed controller, a 7 channel receiver, 2 water pumps, working swivelling searchlights, 2 speakers & various switches & relays, & a couple of sound modules I think. The only thing it does not have is a transmitter. The receiver is marked FM Type P40 FM-E D4923 with connections B (Battery) & 1-7 outputs. Other parts carry the Microprop label. My question is what transmitter would I require to match the receiver? I do intend moving it on, but it would be great to see if I give it a run first & try out all those features. I have enclosed a couple of photos.

I would look for a 40MHz FM tx.  I think something by Futaba or Hitec

I am not sure if Tx & Rx of different makes will pair up?

Some will some won't

but on the whole MOST 40Mhz FM equipment is cross compatible
I did look up the receiver model number and couldnt find any reference to it

Could you post a close up pic of the receiver?

Did the same, only finding one vague reference to a matching Microprop Tx.  It suggested that the tx  was a design that had a module plugged in to set the frequency of the set to whatever Mhz.  (presumably the main circuits being common to several bands)

Think that I might be inclined to swap out the Rx for a "known" one, presuming that the servos and ESC would plug across.

I think Microprop was made by Brand Elektronik. There are some Microprop items on ebay now but not what I want. I have attached some more pictures of the set up. Not very clear as I had trouble focusing the camera.

A modern working 2G4 radio outfit with enough channels would be useful to prove that the rest of the system works, and could well be the easiest way to get the entire thing working again.  The pin connections and signal requirements have remained constant enough for compatibility, so using a new radio removes one source of uncertainty.
And there might well be somebody out there who has a matching transmitter but would rather buy an extra receiver than sell the transmitter.
