I've finally finished one! WW1 50ft Steam Pinnace.
« on: July 29, 2016, 10:31:43 am »

I actually got the Steam Pinnace the way I wanted it to look.  This is the Chyldes Hall 1/48th scale Steam Pinnace.  I wanted it in wartime colours with a slightly Steampunk vibe to it.  The biggest problem was finding a crew.  In the end I converted the figures from 1/48th scale aircraft mechanics and added a Royal Naval Air Service officer as a passenger.
What do you think?

Goggles! If it's even only a slightly Steampunk vibe, there should be goggles!

Olther than that - sweet! Very sweet indeed.

Very impressive :-))
Surely the RNAS officer
could wear his flying goggles :embarrassed:

Unfortunately the figure didn't come with goggles!  Generally flying gear was frowned upon while in normal uniform but goggles would have been worn with the "Sidcot" suit, a leather flying suit.  RNAS and RFC officers tended to dress very much the same until later in the war when blue navy caps and jackets started to appear on RNAS officers.

Thanks, I am even though I had a couple of false starts with it. I'm happy with the way it's turned out.
