Transferable technologies for plank on frame building

I was looking for ways to make ships boats such as a clinker built 27 foot whaler and remembered that lute bodies are made over formers.

I found this video by a chap who has a few ingenious variations on techniques already used for bending and shaping planks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLEoM7R4w7A
