Information on some models
« on: September 03, 2016, 04:52:23 pm »

Our club has had a fellow donate some models built by a relative that decided to part with them - all static but did install shafts and rudders in case he might r-c them later.

Curious what models these are - one is the HMS Rodney and came with plans from Sambrook Marine (no date). Look like they may have been kits as lots of fittings on the two navy boats.

Fellow seemed to build mostly UK style models.

Any ideas?

Thanks, mike

All my time in the RN and a Crab puts me right :embarrassed:
I used to cross a monitor HMS Roberts quite often
to the Submarine Depot ship in Devonport.
I had been talking about HMS Humber to a fellow
Modeller today so my brain said River Class %)

Green Parrot Admirals Barge - would this be a kit?

Doesn't come up with my google search.

I tried Lesro Aero Kit as well.

Might well be from plans, from about fifty years ago. There was a recent article in Model Boats Magazine regarding a restoration of one of these. I am fairly sure it was from a Vic Smeed plan. Never been kitted to my knowledge.

Thanks for the information - I'll see if I can locate the article.
It's been built to allow for a motor and rudder control but not sure of the layout for those.

Don't think it's an old model - parts of it are plastic. That little sear folds up.
Hoping to get in touch with the fellow who built these and get some more information on them.
There were other models as well but a relative of his will keep them.

Having read all the postings and got me trusty map hands book number 2 - in there Plan Number MM2 - Admirals Barge - length 33 3/4  - beam 9 1/8 -but I am unsure if its by Vic Smeed - or it could be David Metcalf.

The Admirals Barge MM2 design appeared in the August 1952 issue of Model Maker with part 2 in the September issue and was credited to E. G. Cocks.

I think it was quite a popular plan.
