Help building
« on: September 08, 2016, 11:27:52 pm »

Hi guys,  I have been out of the scene for a few years been working away an different things. I am looking at buying a new boat but would need someone to build it!  I tried building 2 in the past an they were rubbish an I ended up stripping them to try again an in the end they were fit for the bin.

Would be really great if someone could poin me in the right direction, would just need the rudder fitting, shaft an mount fitted. As I said I am rubbish can build you a window or door an that as good as I am lol

Thanks chris

I have built a series of offshore style models with 700BB motors ( as well as brushless)  If you are looking at one of Mart's Tomahawks, you won't go far wrong.

One thing I would take exception with is using a 700 series motor with 16 cells i.e 19.2 volts .  I have used 12 cells (14.4v ) and that is overpowering a 700 which , depending on which one you pick is rated at 8.4, 9.6 or 12 volts. At 19.2, I don't think that it would last too long. If you want to use that sort of voltage, looking at a brushless motor would probably be more sensible, with a good choice out there to pick from

I agree though with Ians comments regarding the motor,id go brushless too and you can buy them cheap enough nowadays, you could get a decent one with water jacket for under £50 probably.
Actually let me check as i might still have a suitable motor and water cooled jacket and mount still in its box here 2200 kv which would work well in the boat on 4 s .
Same size motor and mount as in this pic of a tiwn setup i did ,with this mount you have the option of just cooling the motor or both as the mounts cooled too if you wish but not always needed.

I have had 700bb running 16cells in 3 boats all with no issues. All the same style of hull the Garcia, Cesar an super Hawaii boats. An my cousin runs the same in the B24 hull.
