They can be made to work well, but they're not a boat to go really deep with IMO, as the watertight box isn't really strong enough.

You could have a word with John Wrennall over at the AMS forum, he has built one of these up, and can probably fill you in on the caveats and any mods required to make it run a bit sweeter.

Hi, I have to say it is not a great kit.  You would be best throwing away the waterproof box and replace it.with a cylinder as it is simply too weak to withstand diving to any reasonable depth.  Unfortunately mine leaked on it's first outing destroying the battery and esc.  I ended up reinforcing the hatch opening with aluminium angle as I was intending to use o ring chord as a seal.  It was at this point that the deck and ballast tank distorted - which can happen with vacuum formed plastic.  At this point I lost the will to take it any further.  That said there are probably others that have had more success.

Hi sorry did not read your post in full, yes I have one in my loft, mine is one of the prototypes that Harvey the owner of HFM made before he sold it to Krick.

If I can help in any way do please ask.

Not a specific module. There are a few that could be adapted, but I'm not sure that would be a great idea for a beginner.

Alf Blake made one out of a rain down pipe for me, we also made the front planes working at the same time.

There was a very nice one at the Norwich Sub day this year.

I would have to check that I still have it, but I think I still have the marine modelling article of the build of the Krick U boat if you are interested.   The guy who built it seems to have been successful.  If you like I could PM you a scan.
