Akula ice camouflauge scheme?
« on: December 08, 2016, 02:34:45 pm »

I am damn sure that somewhere I've seen a photo of an Akula in a sort of ice camouflage colour scheme...a sort of grey and dirty white colour.

Anyone know anything about this? Any pictures, etc, please?

It'd disappear in a swimming pool! Just ask Kevin.

No mate...I'm 99.9999999999% sure that the boat I saw in the photo was painted in a definite ice camo scheme, but I'm dammed if I can find the photo now. Similar sort of thing to a WW2 Lancaster camo scheme.

Hi,

Perhaps it was a target boat?

I meant sometimes Navies paint subs and ships to show blast zones when used as targets.

Not even the Russians are daft enough to use a newly built nuclear attack submarine costing billions of roubles as a target....
