Hi all,
Thank you for adding me to the site. It has been some years since I last had model boats as a hobby. I have time on my hands now so purchased a large 53" boat off ebay. It is need of restoration, So are looking forward to having ago and start to build up a collection of boats. I have had a brief look at bits and bobs on the site and so far thoroughly enjoyed it.

Welcome Bob, you won't find a more friendly place for advice and assistance. Just ask away, no question is silly or stupid (only the ones you don't ask).

Pop some pictures up and lets see what you have.

Hmmm, an odd kind of craft, freelance at a guess.   Maybe based on a Continental river cruise boat.  The top passenger cabin doesn't look right, perhaps made the vessel a bit top heavy hence the oversize keel.  The wheelhouse would look better down on the next level with a 1960s style funnel.  There is  too much rake on the mast.  Judge scale by the size of biggest door. Figures from model railway suppliers, including crew in uniform and civvie passengers for most periods.  Could look good all white  flying Swiss flag or Lake Chiemsee in Germany. Keep us informed, with pictures of course. Post a couple more of the hull, prop, rudder etc.
