Simple things first - is the receiver bound to the transmitter?  I assume it is a 2.4 GHz set.  If 40 or 27 MHz, are the crystals the same frequency?  Sorry if that is too basic, but we all have that "Doh!" moment now and again.

Sorry but can we have a little clarity here, please? There is no such animal as a "Futiba"; I expect you mean Futaba. By the same token there is nothing I know of called a "high" receiver, which leads me to suspect that you mean Hitec. These are two different manufacturers. If they are both VHF radios (27 or 40 MHz) then you will need compatible crystals - not all manufacturer's crystals will work with other manufacturer's sets. Even then there may be other technical issues which make them mutually incompatible.
If they are on 2.4GHz then best to forget it altogether.
Unless you know for sure that a chosen receiver will work with a chosen transmitter (not "controller", please - they are toys for playing video games) then your best advice is to stick with one manufacturer's goods for the whole installation.
