Wow! I had only ever seen the Star Yachts with Bermuda rig (2 sails) before. I never realized they did multi sail gaffers and a 'J'class as well.

Nice to see the old places with no vandalism, graffiti or litter.

In those days Vandals were a race of warriors you read about in history books that stormed their way around the western Mediterranean and graffiti probably the name of an icecream seller, and litter was always put in a bin. {-)

best part of my week these days is going to Fleetwood lake, and watching the impossibilities of the number of collisions of the weekly sailing competition of the "scale" yachtsmen. Enough merriment to last the full week, the number of crashes they have during an afternoon, and they are all radio controlled and regular sailors.

I can imagine the carnage that would transpire if all those yachts were put on the lake together.

A true gem of a photo.

That last photo with all that electronic equipment probably to operate one servo equivalent? We don't know we live these days with our multi channel digital systems. Thanks the lord! I bet his equipment either cost a packet or took many many evenings of soldering and wiring to make.

"As an island race, interest in boats & their models is an integral part of our heritage. Regattas were being held on the Serpentine from the 18th century."

Bethnal green?!

Yes, it could be Victoria Park Martin. The two natty gents in bowlers with pipes and raincoats were keen racers here for many years - long before this photo was taken.
