it's a case of the pics were from a friend of a friend of a friend

We need to do a little bit more research and asking as I want more information on George V tug as well. To cut a long story short saw George V tug on the lake when I was a junior member of the Club (I was wearing short trousers them days ). She was the first model I had set my eyes on with working lights and she is also steam powered. The other thing to notice is, have a look at the last picture and you will see what looks to be a steam yacht - but if you look at the rudder & prop its either a Kort Nozzle or a Becker Rudder. See if you can make it out.

Obviously we will try and get more pictures from this source.

Think that might be a type of Kitchen
Gear as used on Admiralty workboats.
The prop speed is constant and speed/
ahead/astern is done by rotating the
two Buckets around the prop.

Agree with Ned, more likely to be a Kitchen rudder of some type although it looks more like a hemisphere the way it is deployed. I imagine that the boat was steam powered and the engine not reversible.

On the gyratory junction of Christleton Rd and Tarvin Rd a fantastic model shop. I believe it closed because it kept getting broken into and the council said the security shutters made it look nasty, so he had to take them down. So he closed. IIRC. Another opened further down Tarvin Rd by the canal but was not open for long.

I remember being able to buy my Airfix, Revell, Humbrol paints, and other bits in Woolworths back in the very late 60s to early 70s.

I remember buying paints in Woolies in the early sixties; 3 at 10d each making 2/6. The girl had to add it up on the till.

Too early for me, but I remember Martlets toys and models in Chichester having separate shops across the street from each other; one selling toys and the other selling model paraphernalia. My Dad bought our Keilkraft Triton kit there and I remember choosing the red and blue Humbrol paints and an Airfix Blac for the roof. Back in 1982?

This picture sits on the mantlepiece. My late father & my brother, I'm on the very left hand side. The model is Vic Smeeds Sea Kitten from the 1957 Model Maker. Taken at Teignmouth Devon sea front model boat pond. Around 1965 I'd guess. The model reskinned & repainted still exists.

That was the one, great Aladdin's cave, never impressed with the other one you mentioned.

I don't suppose you have any period images showing a Bassett Lowke "Streamlinia"?

It seemed to be a popular boat at the time, so I'd imagine that there were a fair few about...

I'm currently restoring one.
