Amazing detail - do you rip all your own wood strips?

Thanks for posting the building steps.

Hi Mike, with the planking strips (bit lazy there) I buy those generally from 'Modellers Shipyard' in Australia found them to have very good quality lime wood ,have bought some from the UK but found the lime wood strips very splintery and softer, all the other deck beams etc cut those on the band saw.
With this set of photos are of 2 crane kits i bought from the UK, one from 'Model Slipway' a power block crane FK-OL ,even though this kit is scale of 1:24  and my models are of 1:16 I wouldn't want this any larger, and the second crane kit is from 'Macs Mouldings' a Seacrane M321, I made some slight modifications on them but very impressed with their realism and outcome of both of them.
With the aft power block crane i made a slide frame on the trawl gantry to make it easier to remove etc.

Hi there, next up the hand railings around her, tried something different this time, with the main up right post I driled them on a slight angle to suit the lighter cross rails ( looks a bit rough how I drilled them out), broke the drill bit a few times ,had just enough of the bit left to finish the job off, once they were all in position then soldered all those sections......

Thanks Spinner, these are the last shots of her before packing her up to take them south , did the final assembling there.
1 & 2  .. Made a couple of trawl blocks from fittings I scavenged from something about 20 yrs ago (can't remember what the hell it was ???) I generally have a container I keep all those little goodies in for use .
3  ...She is just hanging around while her bottom drys ,sprayed her bottom all the remainder brushed.
4  ..Showing her inside with the R.C gear installed ,so plenty of room in her for ballast.
5  ..With all her vinyl strips attached (sure does beat trying to paint them)
6  .. Sticking her windows in I just use P.V.A wood glue......

Is the double U piece in your last photo a jig or just a useful retainer to hold the window frames straight while the glue dries???

Hi there ,well bubble wrapped the bulk of the models in the photo and we transported them from Cairns down to Byron Bay prior to Christmas, and finally has her name and numbers attached.
I named her after my wife Catherine (I couldn't use "Lady-Catherine" as Peter has a lovely model with this name) Meili ( pronounced  May Lee in Chinese  is Beautiful ).
we gave her a float and ballast test the other day, there are 2 photo's of her sitting as she is and the others after installing the ballast she took 3.860 kg towards the bow and 3.790 kg in the hollow heel area total of 7.650 kg, and the last photo showing Catherine with the model....

Wow!!!! It is not often you can say that a model is as beautiful inside as it is out knowing the quality of your carpentry in making the hull.

Lovely!

I had the pleasure of seeing Brian's latest masterpiece, Meili-Lady, in action yesterday at our club lake in Ballina yesterday (Sunday). I have followed the build of this beautiful model on Mayhem, plus Brian kept me up to date with his progress via emails, and to see it in real life was great. It performs every bit as well as it looks, and that's saying something. It's quite a big model and has a real presence on the water. Wonderful job, Brian.
