Christmas TV Adverts
« on: December 13, 2016, 02:35:50 pm »

Who agrees with me that the House of Fraser TV Christmas Advert is not only over worked, over produced and over infuriating, but it is also totally meaningless as a Christmas advert. <*< <*< >>:-( >>:-(

And the music is just downright annoying.

I'm talking about it because I'm so peeeed off with it being on almost every other advert break, SO THAT YOU CAN'T GET AWAY FROM IT. <*< <*<

may be the music is ok in context....i.e. on radio 1, but it's a lousy choice for a lousy inane advert with no meaning to Christmas >>:-( >:-o

Record commercial television and skip the adverts. I have no idea what you're talking about and I like it that way!

Ditto - We record everything we want to see, then fast forward all the adverts. It also means we can skip through all the unnecessary boring bits in any program.

And as for Christmas ----------

Working Boxing day are you? >>:-( >>:-(

I had 20 years working for a "well known electrical retailer" and I don't miss it one little bit! Happy Christmas day......

Which is why, like dougal, we record everything we think is worth watching - commercial or beeb and with the help of Radio Times. We never just sit down and turn the box on on the offchance there might be something worth watching.
In fact our biggest problem is avoiding spoilers as we watch almost everything at least 24 hours after transmission  :-)

No, I meant that I'm on the buying side (hence 'out of pocket'  >:-o ) rather than on the selling side and loads of quids in the till  :-)) .

And that is the entire point of advertising!  All publicity is good publicity - even if it's bad.

I have to agree. I can't honestly see the relevance to xmas whatsoever, at least previous years from them have been and can be seen to have a xmas theme. But animals bouncing on a garden trampoline? Apart from the young girl coming down to find it in the garden on I suppose is xmas morning, it could be any day of the year.

Ah I see....well have a thought for the sales staff when you take your faulty product back on Boxing Day. Remember it's not their fault and they probably don't want to be there either.

Wouldn't it be ironic if, having got really teed off with the House of Fraser ad that was actually the John Lewis ad, John Lewis' was visited instead?
Are people in advertising really that devious?

In which case, you have been blessed. My TV licence works out VERY expensive when I work out how many programmes I actually watch from start to finish, last count = 16 so far this year. >:-o

It's just as well we have MBM - something worth reading / looking at. :-))

Ray.
