Well....we can laugh at such footage however in reality electro/mechanical failures do occur

Ferries of similar size approach the wharfs at Circular Quay in Sydney at frighteningly high speeds and rely on throwing the engine to full astern at the last moment....this is not just with modern diesel engined vessels......the older steamer South Steyne and her sisters also preformed such berthing delights O0

Ferry Masters  :police: are often ex-seagoing professionals with a life's experience in nautical matters ........[except ones from the Steffano School of Studies] naturally in the open sea, the consequences of an engine control failure are of little concern with ample time to have the fault investigated and corrected

I doubt that the Ferry Master here would have been playing Tiddly Winks when this incident happened

If you rewatch the video, the Ferry did make 5  blasts on the horn....twice....errrrr 1 4/5 .......before impact >>:-(
