What size prop did you use, Martin?

I think 25  or 30mm but I would recommenced a slightly milder motor, a Speed 400 7.2v not the 6volt.

Nice job! Simple but effective conversion unlike mine which now appears massively over engineered bodged

Dont you think it sits rather low in water. I was converting mine and found it sat too deep so am in the process of cutting along length of waterline and inserting a 3/4 inch deep section.

Not really and it planes really nicely with the new motor!

Hi John, I think i read that when the model was produced the water line was reduced particularly at the stern

Many thanks for a very concise, and informative thread on the conversion to a more simple single screw propulsion. I was going for a twin screw until I saw this thread. Many thanks again, Dave W 😊

Hi, I am in the process of converting a lifeboat same as the one featured. Could you tell me what length of prop shaft  you used. A very well put together conversion. May well require a few more hints and tips as I progress. Many thanks .Ian Palmer.
