Im good at asking silly but genuine questions!!
Here goes
My non rechargeable batteries which were sadly left in one of my old radios has leaked.I have thrown the batteries away of course but the connections in the radio have turned green gungy stuff.
I would like to salvage the radio if I can,so what do I use to neutralise the green verdigris whatever its called.someone said vinegar,but I am very loathe to use it as it is acidic itself?

Hi Mick, try an alkaline such as baking soda, mix as a slight paste and wipe it on, make sure to completely cover the contacts, wash off if pos, or wipe clean several times, depends how bad the damage,

If you can remove the battery holder / contacts from the rest of the transmitter, pour nearly boiling water over the contacts. the gunge will vanish.  follow with one of those plastic pan cleaners, and all should be ok.

Take a very close look at any attached wires/wiring as they may also be affected.
