Cable Repair Ship "Recorder"
« on: March 02, 2007, 07:04:28 pm »

The first model I had ever built. Started in 1974 and completed in 1982. Still going strong with only 1 minor refit.
The model is 7' long and weighs 92lb. A very steep learning curve fo this one as I had no modelling friends to consult.
It did help that I had served on her for 2 years. But knowing and doing seem to be entirely different things. Still, she seems to have come out OK.

Patients? I belong to a model boat club and not a hospital! (although there is a school of thought that some of us should be in one of the more specialised ones).BY.

Greetings.
I am a new boy and an avid scratch modeller.
Served with Cable and Wireless on "Edward Wilshaw" and "Recorder" during the sixties.
Now considering making  a model of one of the above. Has anyone any ideas where I can get plans?
Cheers.........

She's beautiful  Bryan,
I look forward to being hopfully  even half as skilled and good modeler as you your master class by a long way.
was she built on the Tyne as a young boy as am sure my grand dad took me to watch her being launched.
The SD14 will be about the same size.

              Regards Howard.

PS, just got some kitchen base units this morning to start fitting out the garage so modelling is on hold for a few days :(( .
