A number of people have committed suicide from there and also from the almost identical Chirk aqueduct about a mile further along the canal.

The canal and the aqueducts are a protected World Heritage Site.

The deep gorge of the River Dee runs for miles and has plenty of bridges crossing it, so fencing the aqueducts off would not really help.

The Falkirk Wheel is of course just a modern version of the Anderton Boat Lift.

Having been up and down both, I like the Anderton
better, as it was engineered in the old was.
The Wheel although impressive had the design
Run through computers .
The engineers on the Anderton had no such help.
