I see that the SME company has changed hands. I was familiar with their hi-fi pickups 50 years ago when I was working in that industry

What I did not know at the time was that SME stands for Scale Model Engineering. Does anyone know anything about what they used to produce in the modelling field?

I did look that up before posting, but there's no real detail.
