Own up, who went to the cash and carry and hoarded slabs of tinned food just in case they were snowed in for a fortnight!

To get back to the UK from Bulgaria last Monday I walked at -35C to the local bus stop in our village, the 3 foot of snow didnt stop the crowds of people waiting for the bus to get them to work and it didnt stop the bus either, it arrived on time, got me to the town 20 miles away on time the next bus arrived on time and got me to the airport on time , airplane arived on time, got deiced and got to Liverpool on time

Its like a joke watching the news!

Bulgaria the Poorest country in Europe everything is fine in 3 foot of snow and -35C

Britain cant handle half an inch and -9C

True enough but it's a question of what you are used to I suppose. In Scotland they deal with gales as a matter of course which would terrify us softy Southerners. When visiting New England a few years back, the inn keeper reckoned that his most terrifying experience was driving in the UK; wrong side of the road, stick shift and roundabouts.

I imagine that Bulgarian drivers might find the M25 on a rainy night terrifying.

For those thinking its wall to wall sunshine all the time in Spain that is not true. That's only May to October.

Otherwise we get typical English weather, this is what my garden is like this morning......

You'll have to move further south.  :-)    Never went below 4C, and that was a cold snap, in Gib. Last snowed in 52 I believe and that never settled. Always went swimming at xmas.  %%

Our village is now cut off, the police have close all surrounding road because its too dangerous to drive on them (steep mountainous roads of course, with severe drop offs)

Its the whole costa blanca mate. Even places like Benidorm have been covered in snow - all the way up to costa calida, costa tropical which means you are down the coast towards malaga then. :((

Colin. My son lives on the north coast of Scotland near Thurso and he told me this week, the gritters went round his village 4 times in a morning - and it wasn't even icy, let alone snowing! The Highland roads people have got us licked when it comes to road clearing.

Oh good! We were planning on touring the Highlands and Islands in May....

Don't get stuck behind a gritter with a modern car though, it will flay the soft water based paint right off it!
