Below is one method of manually adjusting a bandsaw fence, so that it is parallel to the blade. This should allow for truer cutting. Most fences have screws or some other method of adjustment.

One thing I have gathered is that if you are going to resaw timbers (cut into thinner pieces) use a coarse blade, not a fine one. This allows less time for the blade to wobble, and you get a flatter cut.
