Bowthruster to Shottle drive
« on: January 25, 2017, 10:57:39 pm »

Changing my tug  from bow thruster to shottle drive. Cutting out the tube then rebuilding the bow to take the shottle. After cutting a hole to take the drive I found there was not much room in the bow to take the motor or the servo that steers the shottle, so I had to bring the servo round in the same direction as the motor as you will see in the photo, I had to epoxy the drive in as again I could not get in to drill the holes to hold the drive in. What a great thing for a modellers licence, I'm happy with it and it works for me.

That's my sort of refit....stuffing great hole hacked in the model, followed by making it so good you cannot see the join. Nice :-))

That is a different hull shape.

No doubt the "fins" add stability.

The fins prevent the tug from rolling or tipping out when pushing sideways against a ship.

Hi Umi.  This gets me some practice in for when I do my new carrousel ( rave ) but little bits from the Giano also shuttle drive not
Voith, so it could look a strange to. I welcome your Ideas if you have any. :-))

Hard to imagine where you need my input.
I had trouble wrapping my head around that gouge in the
bow till I realized it was exterior across the thruster tunnel.

I wandered into the thread thinking you were creating a retractable schottel bow thruster...
