I bought this semi kit of the Arleigh Burke class before Christmas and progress has been good up to now, the Fleetscale hull is 2.1mtr length, the superstructure is a Sintra construction and all the fittings are from APC models in Australia, if anyone is interested in the build I shall post some pictures as I progress, here are a few to start.....

No too much done today except some work on the bridge section and trying to sort the best way of access for the aft section, not sure whether to have the aft missile launching area as a one piece removal or with access hatch?

Superb so far shippers. I have the same hull and I am currently doing my research but I am struggling to find running gear for her...might I ask where you sourced yours?

I have 2 sources so far, one who can make me props, one can make props and shafts but none that can supply A frames, rudders etc.

I wonder, what is Sintra like to work with and what is it like for bonding, shaping etc.?

The running gear came from Fleetscale, I believe they can source these from another manufacturer.

The Sintra is a good material to work with, basically the same material as plasticard but lighter, only downfall with the Sintra is that it is softer so if you dig your thumbnail in it will make an imprint, I will carry on and finish the main superstructure but in the future I will be building a separate one in plasticard.....

I have now sorted all the access hatches to the hull and happy with that, I was originally going to fix the main structure lower half as a solid piece but decided to have the whole unit as a lift off piece, hanger doors fixed in position, bridge more or less finished/fettled so ready for some warm weather to finish the primer...

I use Imageshack and pay a small fee for unlimited hosting. There is a limited free storage facility with them I think. Set your photo size to 800x600 and you will have reasonable sized images. have a look at my topic on HMS M19 in the warships room for reference.

I had a look and like what I see

Not bad

You should be able to get larger images if you select the size in the download box as the images download. There is a dropdown at the top with size options and I go for 600x800 or thereabouts which gives you a good size which i hope isn't too large for
Martin's bandwidth.

Russel......your Raytheon CIWS looks very crisp

......is it a 1/72 kit?......

They are spectacular during use.... a gun goes crack/bang..... a missile launcher goes woooshbang.....CIWS goes provides bursts of quickly orchestrated ratatattat.........until the incoming foe is vanquished....& bang....& at very close quarters

Obviously you will have another for the stern.........

Coming alone nicely. I get to Bath several times a year. It is especially exciting during the summer as they leave the assembly building doors open and the road runs right past, allowing one to see in. The hull sections are seen end on with all the decks, tanks, plumbing and electrical runs exposed. I still am amazed that all connects and works. I will try to post some photos from my next trip down.

Looking good....with the size of the SONAR dome

....they could hear sardines swimming in Norway.....just keep it turned on to Active Mode so to avoid Japanese container vessels
