Hello New guy from Dumfries Scotland
« on: February 09, 2017, 07:19:50 pm »

Hi Guys
A little introduction, i am a keen RC modeller so are quite a few members of the family including my Father, Brother, Wife & so far my son.
I have quite a few old Tamiya RC 1/10 scale cars.
For many years i was a keen RC flyer and have quite a collection of Trainers, Gliders & Aerobatic planes with either IC or electric power.
I have also been interested in Boats, but never really taken it seriously until very recently.

So far in build i have a hydroplane outrigger scratchbuilt which only needs a brushless powerplant and some paint to finish.
I also bought many years ago a static boat off a well know auction site with the aim to make into a simple RC boat.
2 other boats in my possession are cheap RTR's which i use in the estuary near where i live.

My father came across an old Graupner Adolf Bermpohl in an antique shop and he is currently restoring this to seaworthiness.
The kit is an old 1970's version which unfortunately didn't come with the small launch boat (Vegesack or similar).
The whole lot came with instructions but was in a very bad way. It is being restored nicely at the moment and i will post pictures.
As my father turned 60 the other day i did get some help from some of my German colleagues and managed to track down an old Graupner Vegesack(launch boat for the larger boat). So this will also be restored to work with the Bermpohl.

If anyone is in the South Scotland area e.g. Moffat or Lochmaben or similar please say hi as we are looking for good local places to sail the boats.

All the best
Will

Hi Will, welcome to Mayhem, as you will see, there are specialists and great modelers, but for the most part we are average modelers helping each other from experience!!! that usually means, i made a mess before you do!!!!!.
With you RC experience already, we might be asking you
Welcome again

Thanks Mark. I will try to help where possible.
I think once you start modelling with rc the bug bites and never let's go. Not that I mind at all :)

Hi there,
there is a borders model club at
Gunknowe Loch, Tweedbank Park, Tweedbank
http://www.sfmbc.net/page25a.html

if you are near Moffat further a field would be Glasgow Richmond MBC or Carlisle MBC
both about 45minutes in each direction.

I hope that helps  :-))
